A postdoctoral position is open in the Lamb (laboratory of molecular bacteriology, URBM) team at the University of Namur, Belgium. The Lamb team, supervised by Prof. Xavier De Bolle, is interested in molecular biology of the Brucella abortus pathogen. Our team investigates questions such as how the bacterium assembles its envelope, how it adapts to resist stress, and how the envelope incorporates secretion systems. See the Publications section to learn more about our research.
The postdoctoral researcher will work in the frame of a project funded by a Welbio program (https://welri.org/). This project aims at understanding lipopolysaccharide synthesis and translocation, at the genetic, biochemical and cell biology levels. S.he will have skills matching the proposed research and s.he must be able to integrate a team with a positive working atmosphere.
The candidates will hold a PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Microbiology or Biochemistry. Experience in molecular bacteriology or Brucella biology is highly recommended for the position. Experience in a BSL3 or fluorescence microscopy is a plus, but it is not mandatory.
The candidate will have to work in a BSL3 facility available at UNamur.
Applicants must send a CV (including a minimum of 2 reference persons with their e-mail addresses) and a motivation letter to xavier.debolle@unamur.be before July 5, 2024. The expected starting date is Sept. 1st, 2024 (but it may be adapted). The salary is competitive regarding the cost of living in Namur.
A first selection will be done based on the CV, the motivation letter, and the references. The pre-selected candidates will then be invited to an interview that will be organized either online or on-site in Namur.
